"Outstanding B&B. Everything so clean & fresh. Breakfast excellent."

Mr & Mrs J S, Edinburgh

Breakfasts are truly special at Arduaine, bread is home baked in our own kitchen; wholemeal bread and white ‘Farmhouse’ bread - delicious! Follow your tastebuds during a leisurely breakfast, start off with a choice of different juices before you indulge yourself with Arduaine's speciality, the Farmer's Breakfast which is amazingly popular amongst our guests, or the traditional Scottish Breakfast with award-winning local sausages or choose, if you prefer, a lighter option. Another favourite of our guests is Porridge "David's style", cooked in the old-fashioned way on the hob.  click here for our Breakfast menu

Diets:  We cater for special diets such as those in need of a wheat- and gluten free celiac diet: the breakfast includes home baked ‘real’ bread - gluten free, of course, as well as porridge without oats and also muesli and cereals, all gluten free. A gluten free packed lunch is available, if you wish. All prepared with insider knowledge by your celiac hostess. For diabetics we always have special breakfast items available: unsalted butter, marmalade / preserves with no added sugar. - Lactose free diet: non dairy soya milk is available, if you wish.  -  Please advise, when booking.

We try to source quality locally produced food and we always offer local specialities such as honey from the Machars (our peninsula), yoghurt made across the bay, and award winning pork sausages made by our local butcher; we also buy at the small family owned & run health food shop.

We serve fair trade tea / coffee / hot chocolate, and fair trade muesli.

If you would like a gluten-free packed lunch, ‘early’ breakfast before 8:30am, or if you are required to follow a diet please advise and discuss at the time of booking.

In your lounge there are well stocked book cases with good books in a large variety, magazines, games as well as extensive Visitor Information, walking / cycle maps, details on over 20 golf courses (the nearest less than 500 yards from Arduaine in Wigtown, 4 others less than 30 minutes drive, most of the rest within 1 hour, the most famous course at Turnberry just 1 hour), a list of Tourist Attractions nearby such as the Stately Homes of Drumlanrig and Dumfries House (featured on TV Antiques Roadshow, recommended by Prince Charles), many Historic Scottish Castles, National Trust properties, a dozen Gardens from the Royal Botanic to private gems.

Free e mail access (and computer use) is available in the local library, open every day, and just ‘round the corner’ from us.
